First outing in the new van

Having owned a T5 Kombi for 3 years we finally took the plunge and converted the van to a camper. We wanted to keep the twin sliding doors thought which meant a bit of a compromise with the kitchen which is only has a single ring. The work was completed by Not Just Campers is Wakefield and Andi did a great job. As well as bespoke kitchen gas and water he also added a Smart Bed Evo upholstered in leather to match the front heated seats which I have purchased off eBay and which I believe were out of a shuttle bus, he also added a Reimo roof with 100watt solar and a fridge which opened in the same direction as the door, anothe compromise to keep the two sliders but this is one that seemed to work really well.

Reimo roof with Fiamma awning on the passenger side

Solar panel provides 100 watt of power on a sunny day and a trickle charge on dull days

Sliding Smart bed from the rear

Kitchen with sink and single ring, just enough room to carry on using the sliding door for access

For our first outing we decided to go back to Aberdaron as I have fond memories of my dad taking me and my sister there when we were kids.

There we are, me (Rob) and Deb with the village of Aberdaron in the background. Although very mild for the end of December we were still vert lucky with the weather.

We took a walk over to fisherman’s cove. I don’t actually know if that is it’s real name but it is what my Dad used to call it when I was young and therefore it is good enough for me. I remember walking down here with him one year and he started a tractor with his locker key from work. Me and my sister were desperate for him to take us for a spin but thankfully he was a bit more sensible than us and refused, probably just as well as we would have ended up in the sea and a very unhappy fisherman no doubt.

Fishermen’s cover above, not changed a lot except that was definitely not the tractor my dad started when we were young.

Our camping stop for the night looking out over Bardsey Island. There was a little bit of wind and rainy but we really did get away lightly and it was lovely waking up to these views, a cup of tea and a bacon and sausage sandwich. Who forgot to pack the tomato sauce though?????
